Scottish Construction Associations Collaboration Forum
![]() |
On 9 July 2021, CIOB Scotland chaired an online meeting with a number of construction industry institutes, associations and other bodies to discuss the potential benefits of closer collaboration in the delivery of grass roots events and activities.
The complex geography and relatively low population density of Scotland can make it difficult for individual organisations to secure sufficient resources or attendees to deliver effective local activities. Working together, a group of related organisations have access to a wider range of resources, and large numbers of members, which can make this much easier.
Attendees at the meeting agreed that better structured collaboration of this type would be beneficial, particularly in the delivery of:
- Cpd, training and other events.
- Site visits.
- Outreach to schools and universities.
- Mentoring and early career support.
- Cross promotion of activities and events.
- Dissemination of surveys and questionnaires.
At a second meeting on 2 September 2021, It was agreed that a LinkedIn group would be created to enable relevant organisations to post details of activities that they would like to find collaborators for.
The Linkedin group can be seen here.
Participants in the group include:
- BSRIA.
- CIAT.
- CIC.
- CIOB.
- Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors.
- Constructing Excellence.
- Construction Scotland Innovation Centre.
- Federation of Master Builders.
- ICE.
- IHBC.
- Scottish Traditional Building Forum.
- SELECT.
If you would like to join the group, email Gregor Harvie, chair of the CIOB Scotland Sister Associations committee at [email protected].
